The John C. Santistevan
Memorial Scholarship Fund was created in memory of John Santistevan
who died January 4, 1993, at the age of 18 after
being struck by a hit and run drunk driver.
John started drawing at the age of 18 months and won his first award at the age of 5 (in competition with 10 and 12 year olds). He was a brilliant young artist - extremely advanced for his age. John graduated from Los Angeles County High School for the Arts in 1992, and was attending California State University at Northridge at the time of his death. |
The loss of this very talented young man is immeasurable, not only to his parents, family and friends, but to the world as a whole. God gave him a very special gift. He could see beyond the surface... to the soul, making his drawings and paintings very sensitive and spiritual.
In recognition of John's talent, his love of life and art, his parents created this scholorship in his memory to encourage other talented students who also share a love for the arts.
